The One Who Got Away

The night before my confession, the group chat exploded.

Someone posted: "Boss is with Vivian now."

I froze. My thumb hovering over the screen.

"Dinner means nothing," someone replied.

"What about kissing? Does that count?"

Ethan. My boss. The man I loved for two years.

Everyone in the office already knew.

Everyone except me.

I was going to tell him tomorrow.

That I loved him.

Instead I learned he already belonged to someone else.
